Additional competencies include strong interpersonal, communication, math, analytical, and organizational skills; knowledge of safety and environmental programs; and an understanding of commodity markets and standard software applications.

Job Responsibilities : This is an entry level pesticide inspector who is learning the process of enforcing the Pesticide and Pesticide Applicators’ Acts and associated rules and regulations by: performing inspections on pesticide applicator’s records, storage, equipment, disposal practices at business & field locations; inspecting pesticide products for proper registration (including exemptions); inspecting pesticide sales locations for required dealer licenses; sampling pesticides to determine if label analysis is accurate; issuing violation notices or cease & desist orders where appropriate. Investigates complaints about possible violations of the Pesticide applicators’ Act and the Pesticide Act by interviewing witnesses, taking photographs, taking samples, gathering other pertinent evidence and filing reports with supervisors to determine possible legal actions. Confers with legal council about investigations. Testifies in administrative, civil and criminal hearings and depositions.

Job Requirements : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agricultural business, agronomy, agricultural economics, agricultural crop management, biology, biological science, botany, entomology, horticulture or other field closely related to life science.Transcripts are to be attached to your application materials.Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable. Requirements :Knowledge of Basic safety practices and hazards related to the operation of wastewater treatment plants; wastewater constituents including simple and routine sampling and analysis procedures; procedures involved in operating and maintaining preliminary and primary treatment facilities including sludge digestion and disinfection; specifics regarding the operation of stabilization ponds; and state regulations regarding the classification of wastewater treatment plants and operator certification.Ability to Work safely and effectively on various shifts; follow oral and written directions; perform heavy manual labor; learn to safely operate equipment used in water and wastewater treatment facilities, collect samples and perform standard laboratory tests of potable water, wastewater, receiving waters and biosolids and interpret such tests; read and interpret gauges and recording devices and keep adequate records; perform mathematical computations involved in the operation of water and wastewater facilities; use CRTs and PCs;, adjust treatment processes as indicated by plant conditions; work independently;interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member.
